Refining the folding of EP

The folding of the EP currently left the final EP outer case looking tacky and not in a good professionally way, the paper which i had used was far too thick and bulky which pushed the folds out so when all completely folded down to stuck out at an odd angle. The needed to be developed and refined to make the overall casing neater and tighter:

Previous mock up:

Refined mock up:

My client gave me text to put on the inside of the cover to the EP. It was not to my taste and did not sound very good, infact i dont think it made sense, however she insisted on having it the EP and it to be the blur for the night:

To make the backing stronger to hold the EP i placed card tabs along the side then stuck over the imagery for the cover. however this tactic didn't really work and make the EP even more bulky:

However whilst doing this, i realized that i liked the effect of seeing the vinyl half out of the sides, i started experimenting with how i could incorporate this within the design:

I could work in the format below once the over has been opening, however if it was like this the vinyl would not be held in place and it would fall out:

To solve this i change the layout of the imagery, flipping it around so there would be a case on the bottom side of the EP. This would serceure the EP and hopefully hold it in place:

Final b/w mock up ready to be printed out, however it was lucky that i made a black and white copy before the final print as i still got the cover layout wrong, see below, thing was easily corrected:

Final design, printed out. The folds work far better and there was not too much over hanging once completed folded up together. i am pleased iwht the final format as for me this was a huge set up form a standard EP slot in format.

I changed the stock of the paper to slightly off white textured paper, this has benefited my design and adds to the tacky/decaying effect:
